Hi

Im looking to be able to create an alert email by assessing chart results. For example if its a 5 minute chart I would like to be able

to generate an email if the 5 previous periods have finished up. Would this be done by writing a script? Many thanks

Dear Traderbin,

Unfortunately there is no possibility to send e-mail from ActFX by now.

We are going to add this feature in future.

Best regards

Dear tradebin,

If you mean DDL (Data Definition Language) for Excel - ActTrader has no such functionality and we didn't develop that one for Excel .
Actually, DDLs are used for DBMSs usually, and Excel is not one of them.

If you mean DDE (Dynamic Data Exchange) for Excel - then Yes, you are able to use DDE Server of ActTrader.
Currently there are three tables may be used thru DDE:
  • Instruments
  • Currencies
  • Summary
For more info of how to enable and use DDE Server, please, learn the Manual's page

http://help.sysfx.com/documents/traders_manual/4.6/en_US/dde_server.htm

Best regards

Hi

Can you advise if the DDE will work with an OpenOffice spreadsheet? The data is coming into

the spreadsheet but appearing as strings of text.

Thanks again

Dear traderbin,

main point of the problem is that
there is difference of using DDE links in MS Excel and OpenOffice Calc

Here you can find how to use DDE in Excel and
here you can find how to use DDE in Calc

The ActTrader starts DDE Server which can be used in both Excel and Calc,
but the DDE table, which is held in a buffer, generated according to MS Excel format.

So you can rework that links into Calc's function format and work with dynamic data.

Lets see the difference of how to use it on example of one link - the bid price for EURUSD

we have next DDE parameters
  • server name: "FX_DDE_SERVER" (by default, may be changed)
  • document name: "PAIR" (for "Instruments" table)
  • field/item : "BID_EUR_USD"

Excel:
=FX_DDE_SERVER|PAIR!BID_EUR_USD

Calc:
=DDE("FX_DDE_SERVER";"PAIR";"BID_EUR_USD")

Best regards

Hi

Thanks so much (again!) for your help on this. Do you know someone with knowledge of the DDE and

either Excel/Openoffice who could write some macros/programs for me? As I mentioned before Im happy

to pay for the work.

Regards
